Google Glass Enterprise Edition Buy
Having launched a revamped version of its Glass Enterprise Edition last May, Google now wants to spur wider usage of its smartglasses among businesses. It has now made the device available for developers to buy directly through its hardware resellers for $999.
Google Glass, or simply Glass, is a brand of smart glasses developed and sold by Google. It was developed by X (previously Google X), with the mission of producing a ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information to the wearer using a head-up display. Wearers communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands.
The Google Glass prototype resembled standard eyeglasses with the lens replaced by a head-up display. In mid-2011, Google engineered a prototype that weighed 8 pounds (3.6 kg); by 2013 they were lighter than the average pair of sunglasses.
The Google Glass if you think about it, is perfect to coach someone in breast feeding: if you are holding or feeding a baby, imagine a camera mounted on your glasses and look down. There you have the world's best view for checking the baby's latch and your breastfeeding technique!
In the US, West Virginia state representative Gary G. Howell introduced an amendment in March 2013 to the state's law against texting while driving that would include bans against "using a wearable computer with head mounted display". In an interview, Howell stated, "The primary thing is a safety concern, it [the glass headset] could project text or video into your field of vision. I think there's a lot of potential for distraction."
In a Tuesday blog post(Opens in a new window), Glass Project Lead Jay Kothari announced a "new chapter" for the device. After working on an enterprise version of the wearable, aptly named Glass Enterprise Edition, for the past two years, the team is finally ready to bring it to more businesses.
The new and improved Glass will go up against Microsoft's HoloLens, which is also positioning its AR headset as an enterprise workhorse. Officially, Redmond's wearable is for "developers and business customers," but anyone with $3,000 can check it out.
The Google Glass 2 is an advanced wearable device specifically designed to improve productivity and facilitate communication between employees. The device is designed to be worn like glasses, making it easy and comfortable to use during long working days.
The Glass 2 is certainly a big evolution over the first Model, and it works quite well: the glasses are light and comfortable, the materials are solid, the user interface is good (swiping without relying on voice commands is very useful).I'd say they're decent smart glasses: if you need it for applications where you don't have to constantly look at the screen, such as scanning barcodes to put certain items in a database, then the Glass is a great solution. Comfort and also for the eyes is a subjective experience. I found it quite tiring after a few hours, but that may not be the case for everyone. Otherwise, I'd recommend borrowing them for a few days and testing how good they feel to your eyes before deciding whether to buy them or not.
The good news is that even if you're not based in the USA, you can still purchase the Google Glass Enterprise Edition 2. The USA Google website does not offer international shipping, but our shopping service can help you buy the glasses and deliver them to your international address.
